One Christmas Eve I made a snowman,
有一次圣诞夜我堆了一个雪人，

Very fat and jolly.
他胖乎乎的而且脸上挂着笑。

I dressed him up in red and green
我给他穿上了花花绿绿的衣服

And trimmed his hat with holly.
还用冬青树装饰他的帽子。

I saw his arms were trembling
我看见他的手轻轻地在摇晃

As if he couldn’t wait;
好像迫不及待要出去似的；

It made me start to wonder—
于是我就开始想——

How do snowmen celebrate?
雪人们是怎么庆祝圣诞节的呢？

I think that while I’m snug in bed
我想当我舒服地窝在被窝里

Dreaming of Christmas treats,
做着圣诞礼物的梦时，

The merry snowmen slip away
圣诞雪人们就会悄悄溜走

And hurry through the streets.
匆匆跑到街上去。

They glide down snowy avenues
他们滑过银装素裹的街道

With lamp lights all aglow;
家家户户灯火通明；

The sleeping city blanketed in freshly fallen snow.
刚下的雪也为这座沉睡的城市穿上亮白的新衣。

They pass by toy shop windows framed with twinkling lights,
他们路过边框闪烁着各种灯光的玩具橱窗，

Pausing for a peek or two at holiday delights.
便停下来看看，感受这节日的喜悦。

The jolly snowmen gather from everywhere around,
来自各个地方的快乐的雪人们，

For a Christmas party in the center of the town.
都聚在小镇中心参加派对。

Waving to each other
互相招手示意

They call out cheery greetings.
他们送去快乐的祝福。

All their friends and family so happy to be meeting.
他们高兴地和朋友家人见面。

A few merry snowmen start trimming the square,
几个圣诞雪人们开始装饰广场，

Soon holly andicicles are strung everywhere.
很快所有地方都挂满了冬青树枝和冰柱。

And then, reaching high,for everyone to see,they hangballs of snow on the big Christmastree.
随后，为了使每个人都看到，雪人们就爬到高处，在大圣诞树上悬挂一些雪球。

The snow children play Freeze tag or Red Rover,
小雪人们在玩木头人和红色撞撞撞的游戏，

Or climb in a stack
或是爬到雪堆上玩

Til they wobble right over.
玩到一不小心摔了个跟头。

The mothers lay out all kinds of cold treats;
妈妈们就会拿出用雪做成的甜点；

Ice cream and snow cones and dainty iced sweets.
冰淇淋和雪锥，和美味的冰糖果。

Then the dancing begins to the tune of a fiddle,
之后是跳舞时间，随着小提琴的旋律，

All the snowmen line up,and sashay down the middle.
所有雪人们排成一列，滑着舞步到广场中央。

Someone says “Hush！”
突然一个人说了一句“嘘，快听！”

Could that be a jingle?
那是圣诞铃铛吗？

Then over the hill gildes
在小雪堆上面

The snowman Kris Kringle!
滑下来的是圣诞老人！

He opens his sack with a jolly “Ho ho!”
他打开圣诞袋，愉快地说“快看快看！”

And pulls out their presents,
然后拿出了为他们准备的礼物，

Each made out of snow.
每个都是由雪做成的。

Santa sips his cocoa,
圣诞老人喝了一小口热巧克力，

The reindeer romp and play.
驯鹿们又跳又闹地玩了起来。

And then, with a whistle,
然后，圣诞老人一声口哨，

They’re off on their way.
驯鹿拉着雪橇就飞走了。

Such fun snowmen have!
雪人们高兴极了！

But there’s still one more thing—
但还有一件事没完成——

With hearts full of joy
于是他们满心欢喜地

They hold hands and they sing.
他们手拉着手唱起歌儿来。

While the fiddler plays,and sweet silver bells ring,
当小提琴手拉出美妙的音乐，铃铛也叮铃铃叮铃铃地响起，

They sing songs about snow,and the birth of a king.
他们一起歌颂着雪和耶稣的诞生。

The children are sleepy,
小雪人们都困了，

The grown-ups are yawning,
大雪人们也都打着哈欠，

The snowmen go home
于是他们就回家了

Just as Christmas is dawning.
在圣诞节即将到来之际。

They’re all back in their places when Christmas Day starts,
圣诞节那天，他们都回到各自的地方，

But these folks made of snow have a glow in their hearts.
但是雪人们的心里充满了温暖的光亮。

Their smiles are more tender,their eyes softly shine,as the snowmen dream dreams of their Christmastime.
当雪人们梦到他们的圣诞时光时，便会会心一笑眼睛里闪烁着光芒。
